Phnom Penh Water Supply and Drainage Project
Improvement of the drainage infrastructure in the downstream area of the Boeng Trabek catchment area in the center of the Capital, Phnom Penh. Project includes the rehabilitation and upgrading of the Boeng Trabek and Toul Sen canals and their associated drainage works, and reconstruction of the Boeng Trabek pumping station. The canal works involved: concrete lining of the old Boeng Trabek main canal and its secondary branches, and concrete lining of the Toul Sen canal and its associated combined drainage systems. The Boeng Trabek pumping station and spillway will be reconstructed to provide a maximum pumping capacity of 8 m³/s. Project includes development and implementation of a resettlement plan for squatters occupying the drainage lagoon and encroaching on the canal.
- Investigations and studies, including stakeholder participation
- Coordination of resettlement and land acquisition needs planning with Municipal Committee
- Preparation of detailed design and tender documents: mechanical/electrical and structural design of canal, new pump house and outflow spillway
- Assistance to Project Management Unit (PMU) in tender evaluation (pre-contract award services)
- Construction supervision of canal and associated facilities based on FIDIC conditions of contract
- Assistance to PMU in managing the rehabilitation process
- Defects liability period monitoring
- Development of benefit monitoring and evaluation system, including resettlement monitoring
- Institutional strengthening through development of and training in accounting systems, contract management systems, and construction supervision.
