Consulting Engineer to Supplement County Staff, National Harbor Development Project
The National Harbor Project is a 300-acre mixed use project that includes the following: 7,300,000 square feet of master plan mixed-use community; a 4,000-room hotel and convention center; 1 million square feet of retail, dining, and entertainment facilities; and 500,000 square feet of class “A” office space. National Harbor Development, LLC, the developer of the National Harbor project in Oxon Hill, MD, and an affiliate of the Peterson Cos., has entered into a cooperative arrangement with Prince George’s County to work together with the various Prince George’s County agencies so that the review and approvals associated with the road and utility plans may proceed on an accelerated schedule to support this major economic development project. For the benefit of the project, the Developer is assisting by providing certain supplementary consulting engineering services reporting directly to the county staff.
Brief Description of Services Provided
SHELADIA is providing a consulting engineer on a contract basis to National Harbor Development, LLC, to work at the offices of Prince George’s County to review plans and expedite approvals and permits for this project as follows:
- Coordinate and expedite review of plans and issuance of permits for the National Harbor Project
- Review road and utility plans submitted to County by developer’s engineers for conformance with County codes as directed by County staff (including street grade establishment plans, storm drain and paving plans, street trees and lighting, striping and signage plans, and other plans and plats)
- Meet weekly with developer and its engineers to assist with expediting of approvals and resolution of problems or conflicts.
SHELADIA’s project experience is founded on the provision of design services for widening and improvement of the major access road to the National Harbor Project, Oxon Hill Road, and on the continuous provision of transport infrastructure design and construction supervision services in this County since 1986.
