Supervision Consultancy Services for Improvement and Upgradation of Phase II ICB Contract of Mizoram State Roads Project, Package No. MSRP/P1B
The Government of Mizoram is implementing the State Roads Project with World Bank funding to create adequate capacity in the road sector by rehabilitation and upgrading of the major state road network. A Strategic Options Study established a preliminary selection of roads within the state road network. Thereafter detailed techno-economic feasibility studies were performed on the selected road sections to establish an implementation program. This rehabilitation and upgrading program is being implemented in two phases and involve widening and strengthening of 184 km of core state roads and rehabilitation and maintenance of 520 km of other state roads. Phase I of this project is under implementation. Phase II includes the following projects:
- Widening and rehabilitation of the 69 km Buangpui – Lunglei Section of the Aizawl-Haulawng-Lunglei Road including bridge over Tlawng river
- Construction of the new Aizawl Bypass between Zemabawk on the NH54 and approximate Km 4.50 on the Aizaw – Thenzawl – Lunlei Road, including four bridges
- Rehabilitation and improvement of a 29.7 km section of M6 between Zobawk and Haulawng
- Rehabilitation and improvement of a 12 km section of the M16 between Selesih and Thuampui.
Brief Description of Services Provided
- Design and bid documents review
- Pre-contract award services
- Construction supervision based on FIDIC conditions of contract modified with World Bank conditions of particular application
- Environmental and social monitoring
- Monitoring during defect liability period
- Training and technology transfer, including training needs assessments, and preparation and implementation of training programs.
Upgrading works on the Buangpui – Lunglei Section of the Aizawl-Haulawng-Lunglei Road include the following:
- Widening of road prism as necessary to accommodate intermediate lane carriageway and shoulders
- Horizontal realignment as necessary and practical to achieve selected design standards
- Profile improvement to meet grade standards
- Construction of an engineered pavement with bituminous surface
- Construction of new bridges and rehabilitation of bridges and culverts and drainage improvements
- Construction of protection works
- Provision of road furniture, traffic control and safety measures.
Construction works on the Aizwal bypass include the following:
- Formation of new alignment and widening of existing alignment to accommodate an intermediate lane carriageway and shoulders
- Construction of an engineered pavement with bituminous surface
- Construction of new bridges and culverts and drainage
- Construction of protection works
- Provision of road furniture, traffic control and safety measures.
Major maintenance works for the Zobawk-Haulawng road and the Selesih – Thuampui road include the following:
- Pavement rehabilitation for bituminous surfaced sections
- Upgrading existing earthen roads to gravel surfaced roads
- Improvement of drainage works
- Construction of protection works
- Provision of road furniture, traffic control and safety measures.
