Technical assistance for implementation of project located, on the North– South Corridor connecting Srinagar in the State of Jammu & Kashmir to Kanyakumari in the State of Tamil Nadu. The project was on the Nagpur –Hyderabad Section of NH-7 in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This BOT project included widening of the 86-km Adloor Yellareddy-Kalakallu section from 2 to 4 lanes and maintenance of a 4-lane 17-km section. Works consisted of construction of a new additional carriageway of 2-lane width; improvement/strengthening/widening of existing 2-lane carriageway; construction of new major/minor bridges, underpasses, road-over-bridge;widening/construction/replacement of culverts and CD structures; construction of service roads, drains, bus bays/bus shelters, truck lay byes; development of road junctions; design and specifications; construction of other components such as toll plaza, administrative and maintenance buildings, service buildings, and rest areas; landscaping; and provision of Highway Traffic Management System (HTMS). The project included 5 bypasses, 1 major bridge (132 m), 12 minor bridges, 35 vehicular/pedestrian underpasses, 1 road-over-bridge, and more than 275 box/slab/pipe culverts.

Brief Description of Services Provided

  • Comprehensive and cost-effective detailed engineering design required for works to be completed and delivery of ready-to-implement “Good for Construction” (GFC) drawings for all road and pavement elements, culverts, ROB, flyovers, bridges, underpasses and culverts/CD structures, as well as project facilities and associated components (road safety, arboriculture, landscaping, and layout/configuration of HTMS)
  • Review of TOR and establishment of project requirements and program
  • Road and structural inventory and condition surveys
  • Pavement roughness and deflection surveys, and soil and sub-grade investigations
  • Preparation of specifications and supervision of topographical surveys
  • Boreholes for structures and supervision of non-destructive testing to assess strength of structures
  • Preparation of final cost estimates
  • Geometric, pavement, and structural design for detailed engineering design
  • Design for alignment and land acquisitions plans
  • Safety audit of road designs
  • Alternative pavement technology analysis and implementation
  • Preparation of traffic management and diversion plans during construction and as-built drawings.
