Enhancement of traffic capacity and safety for efficient transportation of goods and passenger traffic on high volume sections of national highways under Phase IIIA of the National Highway Development Project. The scope of BOT works include:

• Widening of 100 km of existing 2 lanes to 4/6 lanes dual carriageway
• Strengthening of existing 2-lanes
• Various safety improvements as identified by Road Safety Audit or otherwise
• Bridges and service roads
• Facilities for cross movement of local people (underpasses/overpasses)
• Toll plazas and all support facilities for the operation of the highway
• Lay-byes and rest areas with fuel service and all necessary facilities
• Communication systems
• Environmental impact mitigations measures
• Utility services (relocation and a dedicated corridor for present and future utility service needs)
• Landscaping.

Brief Description of Services Provided

• Act independently and on behalf of NHAI to review all activities associated with design (including design review), construction, and O&M to ensure compliance with concession agreement and generally ensure development of a safe, sound, and good project in a timely manner
• Report to NHAI on the financial and technical aspects of the project, after visiting the site at least weekly as per the needs of the project requirements
• Institutionalize quality assurance mechanism and undertake 25-30% quality control tests
• Calibration of test laboratory
• Environmental/social monitoring
• Assist the concession agreement parties in arriving at an amicable settlement of potential disputes
• Act, if required on behalf of the lenders and fulfill various reporting requirements of the lenders
