Professional Development Project, IMS
SHELADIA provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Public Works and Water Resources to design and implement a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary training program to serve the needs of MPWWR. A national irrigation-training center was developed, complete with independent campus, trained staff, national training needs assessment, new curricula in over 85 subjects, training materials, and a computerized management information system (MIS) for the center. Training courses developed include:
- Soil physics, fertility, and chemistry
- OFWM
- Organization and management of WUAs
- Training of trainer
- High efficiency & conventional irrigation & drainage
- Water resources planning and engineering.
A special feature of the new Training Center is an income generating capacity to assist in sustainability. In addition
to technical assistance, procurement of over $3 million of specialized equipment, supplies, and materials for the Training Center.
