One of the major components of the Gujarat State Highway Project is the widening and strengthening of about 900 km of high priority state highways to be implemented in three phases. Detailed project reports have already been prepared. Implementation of Phase I has been started. SHELADIA has been retained as supervision consultants for Phase IIA of the works:
- Shamlaji-Godhra Road, State Highway No. 5, Contract GSHP/7 (121 km)
- Ladvel-Dakor-Godhra Road, State Highways No. 151, 60A, and 12, Contract GSHP/8 (66 km)
GSHP/7 includes 6 major bridges, 8 minor bridges, 2 railroad crossings, and 133 culverts. GSHP/8 includes a major bridge over the Mahi River (500m), 2 minor bridges, 2 railroad bridges, and 47 culverts.
Brief Description of Services Provided
- Design and bid documents review
- Pre-contract award services
- Construction supervision based on FIDIC conditions of contract modified with World Bank conditions of particular application
- Environmental and social monitoring
- Monitoring during defect liability period
- Training and technology transfer, including training needs assessments, and preparation and implementation of training programs.
- Clearing of right-of-way
- Sub-base, base and bituminous pavement
- Raising of pavement level in areas subject to flooding
- Widening of roadway and paving of shoulders
- Improvement to road geometrics
- Replacement/improvement of culverts
- Rehabilitation/reconstruction of bridges
- Improvement of road side drainage
- Provision of road signage and markings
- Provision of traffic safety features
- Provision of street lighting in urban areas.
