Capacity Building for Social Development
ProjectSHELADIA deployed a 7-person team for one year to maximize development benefits in the transport, water supply, wastewater, and other urban and municipal sectors through the incorporation of social considerations in project design and implementation. The TA was to strengthen the equitable delivery of services and infrastructure by increasing key agencies’ capacity in participatory planning and implementation, improved construction practices, and improving the policy framework.
Brief Description of Services Provided *Improved capacity among 25 training institutions by providing TOT training in poverty assessment, resettlement, impact monitoring and evaluation, gender and disadvantaged group analysis, etc. *Strengthening of private sector involvement and training for finance officers of Development Finance Institutions in India *Establishment of a Resettlement Resource Center including the policies governing housing, credit access, micro-finance, income restoration, etc. *Establishment of a Social Development Unit in the National Highway Authority of India.
