Canal Cities Water and Wastewater, Phase II
Construction management services in connection with the improvement and expansion of water and wastewater facilities serving the three canal cities of Port Said, Ismailia, and Suez. The Construction Management Consultant administered three major design/build contracts on behalf of the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage. All three plants are of the aerated lagoon type with sludge handling and disposal facilities. Capacities are 190,000 cmd for Suez, 130,000 cmd for Port Said, and 90,000 cmd for Ismailia.
SHELADIA provided a Site Manager in the city of Ismailia with overall responsibility for the day-to-day activities at the construction site of a water/wastewater treatment plant. The responsibilities included construction of a 90,000-cmd sewerage treatment plant, 22 kilometers of influent and effluent pipeline as well as review of open channel storm drainage designs to determine constructability, and supervision of construction of open channel storm drainage structures. These responsibilities also include the following:
- Evaluation and enforcement of contractors’ adherence to construction schedule
- Measurement of completed work and quality control plan
- Management of contractors’ claims, contract change orders, and review of partial payments
- Maintenance of project records and review of “as built” documents
- Preparation of progress reports.
