The objective of the Project is to reduce preventable mortality and morbidity, particularly among poor women and children by addressing the major issues confronting the basic health care systems as follows: strengthening physical infrastructure at the commune and district levels; improving management capacity; testing mechanisms to increase the efficiency of health service delivery. A core activity is the construction and/or renovation of 326 health centers and renovation of 20 existing district hospitals. Sheladia is responsible for the supervisory engineering services required under the project as follows: provision of technical advice in development of tender documents and review of bids; assistance with contract negotiations; technical assistance for the finalization of a standard architectural and engineering design for new facilities; monitoring and supervision of construction works; preparation of progress and other reports, and liaison with Client; documentation of completion of facilities and provision of technical certification for contractor payments.
