Assistance to the Government of Yemen to establish a new Department of Hydrology.

• Design of a hydrometric network for the entire country
• Establishment of gauging systems
• Creation of a data bank for hydrological and meteorological statistics
• Hydrological analyses for designated water resources development projects throughout the country
• SHELADIA also procured various research and testing equipment to set up a complete water quality-testing laboratory. A communication network was created, centering on the new Department of Hydrology, and bringing together Yemeni government agencies responsible for policy in hydrology and water resources management. Following extensive training provided through the project, Yemeni officials took over independent operation of the Department of Hydrology after the project was completed.
